Hello. I'm Martin.

I'm Martin Poyntz-Roberts, a freelance producer with 25 years experience working in the media.

I've produced award winning television and radio programmes; live radio and digital output for the BBC; plus award winning podcasts. Above all, I'm highly ambitious.

Original Journalism

I researched, recorded, scripted and edited the mulit-award winning podcast series presented by Gavin Esler, The Big Steal.

The Big Steal tells the story of Vladimir Putin and how he stole the natural resources of Russia, imprisoned his rival Mikhail Khodorkovsky on false charges, and took Russia on a journey from burgeoning democracy to an authoritarian kleptocracy.

Compelling stories

I have worked closely with global clients, major brands, and high-profile guests to tell compelling stories.

At the heart of my work is compelling storytelling. Every brand, every client and every guest has a gripping tale to tell. My job is to unlock that story and find it's audience.

Fast turnaround production

Worked on live and 'as live' productions for BBC Radio 5 Live, Radio 4 and Springwatch.
For the past year I have produced 3 weekly podcasts, each week, maintining consistent quality in production and content. Each episode included high profile guests, appearing both in person or recorded online.  â€‹Media Confidential, one of the podcasts I make weekly, recently won the PPA Awards Podcast of the Year.

Investigative
journalism

I've worked on major investigations for the BBC. I was at the heart of Hugh's War On Plastic, working closely with fixers and NGOs in Malaysia to illustrate how UK plastic arrives in the Malaysian jungle. This project required undercover filming in a factory that was controlled by Chinese gangsters.

The Big Steal involved  investigative work into the dealings of Vladimir Putin plus the unexplained wealth accumulated by oligarchs in the city of London, money laundering and illicit financial dealings.
